Children can learn logical principles from the early age of only four. By the young age of seven, they are very capable of solving completely complex problems and have the ability to relate to the feelings of others. Teaching children about money can benefit them by teaching them more than just how to purchase things that they want; it can teach them responsibility.

Some families will have their child collect a weekly allowance. This money is used to buy some of the extra things that a person may want. If there is a toy at the store, or an expensive outfit that they would like, they can save for it on their own. Teaching someone that kids make money around the house to earn more funds, could help them buy something sooner than expected.

One should empower children as young as possible by learning to teach kids about money. This gives young and old the ability to make quality decisions about various aspects of their lives. Education and motivation of young ones in this area should not be ignored. Teaching them to save money gives them power to buy all the things they wish to buy.

Over a large part of the world the very idea of an allowance for kids would be seen as a joke. Children are expected to make themselves useful as soon as they can toddle, and when they get old enough to really work, any money they earn will go straight into the family coffers. Some of it may be used later to marry them off when they turn fourteen to a man of fifty-four. That is the reality of the world.

There are a lot of reasons why children ask you to teach them how to earn some cash. Perhaps they feel that the allowance you give them is not enough. Perhaps they intend to buy something that is slightly more expensive. They might also need to raise money with their friends for a cause. Whatever the reason is, teaching your kids make money help them realize what it takes to earn money and be responsible.

There is a huge number of the community, whom like myself, grew up in a family under welfare. We lived in government subsidized housing estate where most people in the immediate community were unemployed or blue collar workers. You can probably see here that financial education for kids was not around in this area. I can still remember my economic teacher in school telling us that more than 80% of us will end up like our parents… trapped under the poverty line. Initially I didn’t want to believe it but after finishing high school and with only about 10 people in our year making it to college it was hard not to see many kids follow in their parent’s footsteps.

Kids need to learn the importance of not only the value of money, but how to earn it. Allowance is a great way to start as it teaches them how to save up and manage their money and to be picky when spending it. As they get older, they start to want more money and that is when teaching them the value of work is needed. There are various ways for kids to make money and showing your child how will encourage them to work for their goals and what they want.
