The global economy is experiencing a rapid growth of the foreign exchange market. There is an impressive growth in investment and trade in the Forex market. More players are into Forex trading. The beliefs and thinking of the players too influence and impact the Forex market in the way investment and trading takes place. If the investor loses confidence on any destination or country or currency, the investor will pull out the investment from the country or currency, and invest some where else or some other currency where the trader and investor have more confidence. There could be many reasons why the investor loses confidence. It may be because of political instability. Or it may be financial instability. Currencies are traded in the foreign exchange market. Banks, financial institutions, governments, speculators, currency traders and money managers are involved in the buying and selling of currencies. In today’s world, currency has come to occupy a prominent position. But this was not the way it was earlier. Money in ancient times was made of gold and silver in the form of coins. These coins have its own real value because it was made of precious metals. Larger purchases were made of gold coins while the smaller purchases were silver coins. Banknotes have however replaced these coins. These banknotes do not have any natural inherent value like the gold coins. They are worthless. The value that these banknotes have is because these are legally tendered money by government order.

Investors also invest money in speculative investment. In a sense, speculation is also part of investment. But there are distinct differences between investment and speculation. Investment generally means placing money in various financial vehicles or assets with the intention of getting returns when sold at a time these financial vehicles or assets are priced higher than when bought. The investment tends to be speculative investment when the investor does not make adequate analysis, or when the financial vehicle in which investment is made poses a high risk and its safety is low. Or it may even be that the risk involved could extend to even the loss of the amount invested.
