Following Up With The Good, Bad, And The So-So

In a prior article, I wrote about a friend who had three very dissimilar experiences with three companies when she spoke to them regarding her financial situation, trying to prevent herself from getting calls from debt collection agencies. As a quick recap, the first company was incredibly cooperative, sympathetic to her situation, and helped the client far more than was expected. The second company was ambiguous towards helping out, and said that they would try and help whenever the person made a payment. The third company expressed no willingness to help out and said they would be sending the client to debt collection. This is a follow up to see how the companies followed up.

Building Good Credit

If you want to borrow money, you have to have a good credit history. The better your credit history, the higher your credit score and the lower your interest rate. You will find that with good credit comes an easier time at obtaining credit. Both young adults and those beginning to rebuild their credit must establish good credit histories. This can often be quite difficult. You might find that without a good credit history, it′s a challenge to get a credit card, auto loan or home mortgage.

Trouble Continues For Credit Card Collection Actions

Recent decisions in New Jersey and Maine demonstrate the growing burden courts are placing on creditors and debt buyers in credit card debt collection actions. In LVNV Funding, LLC v. Colvell, the New Jersey Superior Court ruled that, to win on a summary judgment motion, a party suing on a credit card account must provide the same proof that is required for a default judgment.
