What is a credit card balance transfer and why would we need one? Balance transfers make it possible for cardholders to consolidate outstanding balances under one credit card by switching from their present issuer to another one. Credit card issuers offer current and new clients this opportunity so as to turn them into loyal clients. Many credit card products are featured with a low or zero introductory interest rate upon making the balance transfer. Naturally, this option is offered only to qualifying applicants. Then, the balances on credit cards that go with high interest rate will be transferred to a card with a low or zero interest rate. Keep in mind, however, that these initial rates do not last forever.
